PRESIDENT’S REPORT JULY-SEPTEMBER 2017

Well we started off our first evening petanca with a match against our rivals from Nerja. Unfortunately, again not quite good enough, obviously we all need more practice. Anyway a good evening was had with BBQ after, and I feel if Nerja had not had their coach coming for them at 10pm, the evening would have gone on much longer.

Not much else to report for the month. George and myself were back in England visiting family and friends, and my thanks go to the council members who held the fort in our absence.

It was decided by the council, to close the club for August, since, apart from the heat, it would appear no one is interested in coming for petanca practice on Friday mornings, and with lots of members back in UK for the summer, thereby diminishing the numbers for Wednesday evenings, we will close from Wednesday 26th July until Wednesday 6th September.

I hope you all have an enjoyable summer, and look forward to seeing you all in September, when we have some events lined up for you.

ART

In an effort to revive the fortunes of the Art Group, it was decided at The AGM to allow non-members who were interested in art to attend sessions at the club.

I have approached a number of people who are interested and consequently may consider joining The British Society. This was highlighted recently on Val's coach trip, when several members of The Diabetic Society & La Cala Lions expressed an interest in art.

This, of course, does not exclude any of our new members who may not be aware of The Art Group's existence. Our normal time Is Tuesday from 2pm, but this Is flexible. For further details please contact Don Widdall. Tel: 952 56 96 70. Don
